El Diario Vasco, San Sebastian, Spain

Based in San Sebastian and published since 1934, El Diario Vasco has a circulation of 90,000 (2005). It is owned by
Sociedad Vascongada de Publicaciones SA

Like Bilbao's El Correo, the Diario Vasco publishes in Spanish and takes a conciliatory stance over relations between the Basque Country and Madrid. Its political stance has led to a number of attacks by ETA, including the murder of its financial director in May 2001, and an attack on the house of one of its political cartoonists.

The majority of its readers are ABC socio-economic groups.
